Dr. David Snadden is appointed Professor in the Department of Family Practice

The UBC Department of Family Practice is delighted to announce that Dr. David Snadden has been appointed as a Professor in the Department of Family Practice.

Dr. David Snadden is an internationally renowned academic and administrator in the field of distributed medical education.  He completed his training as a General Practitioner with a focus on Obstetrics in 1979 and worked as a rural family doctor in Scotland for ten years before becoming involved in academia.  In 1990, he enrolled as a graduate fellow in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Western Ontario were he completed his Masters of Science. He completed his MD (the equivalent of a PhD) at the University of Dundee in the area of Medical Education in 1998. Since then Dr. Snadden has been actively involved in medical education serving as Associate Postgraduate Dean of the East of Scotland Deanery and Acting Postgraduate Dean of the East of Scotland Region. He was recruited to UBC in 2003 to help establish the UBC Northern Medical Program (NMP) in Prince George.  Dr. Snadden held the position of Regional Associate Dean, Northern BC for the Northern Medical Program and Vice-Provost Medicine of the University of Northern British Columbia from 2003-2011.  He has recently been appointed as Executive Associate Dean of Education for the UBC Faculty of Medicine.
