Open House Overview | Interviews | Open House/Interview Schedule & Details

Overview - Open House

Open House Dates:

What to expect?

The Open House is informal. A general orientation and information session will be given by the program director first thing in the morning and repeated after lunch. Presentations from the residency sites will be scheduled throughout the day in 40 minute intervals. These presentations will be repeated. Applicants will have many opportunities to meet with current residents and faculty from across the province during the day and to explore what each site has to offer.

Be prepared to spend around 3 hours either in the morning or afternoon if you are planning to attend all of the site presentations.

Interviews

Interview Dates

Interviews will be held in Vancouver, as well as Victoria and Prince George.  Applicants can choose to attend interviews in any location.  Interviews can be done in-person or by Skype.

The interview process is common for all UBC Family Medicine program/sites.

Only shortlisted and invited candidates can register for interviews. Applicants may choose to attend an interview in person or through Skype.  The registration process is the same.

Interviews are mandatory. The program will not give preference to candidates who interview in person over those who opt for a web-based interview.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend the Open House, even if your interview doesn't fall on the same day, as this is the only opportunity for you to meet with residents and site directors.

The interview process is approximately 25 minutes in length. It is semi-structured and conducted by family physicians, health care professionals and residents. The interviewers will not have prior knowledge of the applicant's file. This allows for an unbiased assessment and scoring.
