Faculty gather to celebrate research, bid farewell to Janusz Kaczorowski
2011 Department of Family Practice Faculty Research Day

July 5, 2011 - The Department of Family Practice held its 2011 Faculty Research Day at Tapestry Westbrook at the UBC Point Grey campus on Thursday, June 16, 2011. The event brought together several of the Department's faculty researchers to present, network and bid farewell to the Department's outgoing Research Director, Dr. Janusz Kaczorowski.

Clinician Scholars, former Community-based Clinician Investigators, academic faculty and other researchers presented their latest research work during the full-day session. Three academic posters were also presented during the afternoon session. The proceedings concluded with a farewell reception for Dr. Kacozrowksi, who is leaving the Department to assume two Chairs at the Université de Montréal in August 2011.

Department celebrates Family Medicine Resident Research Day
Dr. Carol Herbert, Keynote address, 2011 DFP Resident Research Day

June 29, 2011 - The Department of Family Practice hosted its Family Medicine Resident Research Day on Friday, June 17, 2011. Residents, midwifery students, site faculty and other Department members gathered together to attend research presentations and celebrate the completion of the 2010-11academic year.

Dr. Carol Herbert, former Head of the Department of Family Practice and former Dean of the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at University of Western Ontario delivered the keynote address. Dr. Herbert discussed the importance of the role of research in primary care and encouraged residents and midwifery students to continue to ask questions that could improve the lives and well-being of patients. 

As in previous years, the Lloyd Jones Collins Foundation and the BC College of Family Physicians awarded prizes to the best submitted research papers and room presentations. A complete list of winners is available here.
