RESEARCH GROUPS
Family Practice Research Group (FPRG) Rounds
The FPRG rounds are held bi-monthly on Wednesdays from 08:00 to 09:00. The rounds encourage Department researchers and residents to present their work-in-progress, receive colleague feedback, exchange ideas, and form collaborations. Rounds are open to anyone interested in family practice and primary care research.
Medical Education Research Group (MERG)
MERG meets at the Department of Family Practice, UBC Point Grey campus, four times per year. This event brings together interested clinical and academic faculty and research fellows to discuss medical education research and scholarship. The two-hour meeting is held on Fridays from 07:30 to 09:30 and is facilitated by Drs. Joanna Bates and Kevin Eva from the Centre for Health Education and Scholarhip. This group is open to all those who have an interest in medical education research.
07:30 - 08:30
Drs. Joanna Bates and Kevin Eva pre-select two or three relevant papers that have been published in medical education research. Discussions of the pre-circulated articles include broader ways of thinking about the issues, methodology, implications to practice, writing styles, and how to get published.
08:30 - 09:30
Members of MERG present their work-in-progress. The informal format allows for a lively round-table discussion and colleague feedback.
