Mission Statement
The goal of the Division of Global Health is for students, residents and faculty to gain an understanding of global health challenges and a multicultural perspective on health and healthcare.
Objectives:
- To support, develop, and facilitate interest, educational initiatives, research, and international service activities for students, residents, and faculty at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- To liaise and work collaboratively with other health professionals, academic disciplines, and UBC organizations to share resources and expertise, and to support the sustainability of projects directed towards communities in need.
- To establish partnerships with other universities, national, and international organizations, and work in collaboration with these community organizations and NGOs to improve the health of disadvantaged populations.
- To support global health curriculum development, promote social accountability and provide mentorship and engagement activities for students, residents, and faculty.
- To promote cross-cultural medical education and support initiatives to assist communities in need within Canada.
- To host a website to allow dissemination of resource tools, links, conferences, and an international electives database, and provide a platform for sharing global health initiatives at UBC.
