Mission Statement

The goal of the Division of Global Health is for students, residents and faculty to gain an understanding of global health challenges and a multicultural perspective on health and healthcare.

Objectives:

To support, develop, and facilitate interest, educational initiatives, research, and international service activities for students, residents, and faculty at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
To liaise and work collaboratively with other health professionals, academic disciplines, and UBC organizations to share resources and expertise, and to support the sustainability of projects directed towards communities in need.
To establish partnerships with other universities, national, and international organizations, and work in collaboration with these community organizations and NGOs to improve the health of disadvantaged populations.
To support global health curriculum development, promote social accountability and provide mentorship and engagement activities for students, residents, and faculty.
To promote cross-cultural medical education and support initiatives to assist communities in need within Canada.
To host a website to allow dissemination of resource tools, links, conferences, and an international electives database, and provide a platform for sharing global health initiatives at UBC.
