The Family Practice Undergraduate Program administers Family Practice courses for undergraduate medical students at UBC.
The centrepiece of our program is the Family Practice Continuum, in which 1st and 2nd year students spend time in family physicians' offices in Vancouver and throughout the province to learn family medicine first-hand.
In the 3rd year clinical clerkship, students spend 4 weeks one-on-one with a rural physician in the Rural Family Practice Clerkship.
In 4th year, the Department of Family Practice offers a variety of family practice rotations across the province.
For out of province students interested in 4th year family practice electives, please visit the UBC Clinical Clerkship for Visiting Students website for more information.
For more detailed descriptions and additional courses, please see our Course Descriptions.
If you are interested in becoming a Preceptor for any of our exciting programs, please contact: Dr. Ian Scott, Program Director (ian.scott@familymed.ubc.ca), Marika Dauberman, Undergrad Administrator (marika.dauberman@familymed.ubc.ca), or Kathryn Hill, Administrative Assistant (ugsec@familymed.ubc.ca).
