The Post Graduate Program of the Department of Family Practice, University of British Columbia, invites applications from Family Physicians for the position of Site Director for the IMG site of the Postgraduate Residency Program.

The site offers two years of residency training and education accredited by the College of Family Physicians of Canada. This unique training opportunity is based in Vancouver at St. Paul’s Hospital. The site provides the resident with the skills needed to practice family medicine in a broad variety of settings. The Program is fully accredited by the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

Applicants must be a Certificant of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Educational and administrative experiences in residency training are required.
The successful candidate will have a proven record of leadership, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a vision and commitment to building the capacity of UBC to train physicians for family practice. This site is unique in Canada in matching and training only IMGs. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in teaching IMGs and knowledge of the particular strengths and challenges posed by a very diverse group of residents.

The position involves supervision of training, including curriculum development, evaluation and mentoring of residents for two years of residency training. It is anticipated that the position will require the equivalent of approximately 0.5 FTE. The Site Director is assisted by two administrative staff and site faculty. The expected start date for the job is June 2013.
