, received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal from the Hon. Hedy Fry, PC, MP in a ceremony in January. Dr. Wiebe has been a staunch advocate for women’s reproductive rights throughout her career, and has been recognized along the way for excellence in clinical practice, innovation in practice, and her research program. She continues to be a trail blazer, advocating for all women to have access to novel, cutting edge contraceptive options.
The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal celebrates the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. Established in 2012, the commemorative medal is a way for Canadians to honour Her Majesty for her service to Canada. The prestigious award recognizes Canadians who have made a significant contribution to their province, territory, region or community, or an achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada. Sixty thousand deserving Canadians will be honoured with this distinction.
